Mitsuteru Ueshiba (Japanese: 植芝 充央), born in 1981, is the great-grandson of O’Sensei Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of aikido, and the son of the current Dōshu, Moriteru Ueshiba. As a fourth-generation Ueshiba, Mitsuteru continues the family tradition of inheriting the role of technical and cultural leader of aikido.
Since April 2012, he has served as Dōjōchō (technical director) of the Aikikai’s main dojo, Hombu Dōjō, in Tokyo. Mitsuteru Ueshiba conducts regular training there, participates in international aikido events, and represents the Aikikai worldwide. His teaching style reflects a respect for the classical form, purity of technique, and cultural values of aikido. His presence and commitment serve as a bridge between the history and future of the art of aikido.
Thanks to him, the idea of aikido – the art of harmony and peace – remains alive and dynamic, inspiring successive generations of practitioners around the world.
